Recently, after I was forced to go all freelance, I’ve been doing quite a lot of editing and VFX work for Kanen Flowers and his company That Studio. You might have already seen the teaser that we did for his new upcoming movie with the cryptic title “18:20”, but perhaps of more interest might be the behind the scenes that showcases the workflow used to manage the assets and coordinate the project – and a tiny bit of yours truly. Here it is:
Almost everything we did was achieved using Adobe’s toolset plus Maxon’s Cinema 4D. The only third party solutions employed were PF Track that David used for the initial tracking, and a scoring software that Jesse James used to record his music. Apart from this, the Creative Cloud really delivered. You can also catch glimpses of other tools that we used during production: Trello, Wipster, and the ubiquitous Dropbox.
It was a crazy project in many ways, there were bumps on the way, as they usually are, but hey – we pulled it off. In the end I prefer crazy to boring. And I’m happy to finally be part of the indie film community after all these years. Heck, I even get myself an entry on IMDb.
